WUP as we know it!

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Great news from Waves- they’ve capped the total WUP fee to $200!

The old way: they charged a max of $200 per bundle. Which is fine. If you own Mercury. Otherwise the fees add up. It’s not too impossible to go over $200 with the old way.

I’m in the boat of having 4 different Waves products. ( I should post a shootout of the CLA stuff…) My WUP would likely be over the max.

Of course, I don’t have to stay current. At the rate that Apple releases os upgrades, that’s not an option for many.

WUP by the way, is the annual maintenance agreement for Waves. It stands for Waves Update Plan.

Back to it?

Been awhile since the last update. Things have been pretty busy lately.

A quick shout out to Griffle.com, where I’ve been doing some consulting. Check out the 3×5 trio on the TV tab. Yours truly directed and edited!

No Digi at AES 2009 in NYC?

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

So the rumor mill just kicked out something interesting. An unconfirmed report claims Digi won’t have a presence at AES this fall.

There’s been rampant speculation in recent years that Digis parent company, Avid, has been on shakey footing. It could be that the combined effects of the economic slowdown with decreased earnings at Avid made for some cost cutting.

I think is safe to assume that there’s no new hardware for HD users, and no major updates to PT8 or Le. There is however M-Powered support for Mackie, perhaps a combo booth is in order?

Another test.

Call me obsessive, but I have to check these things.

I’m the kind of guy who checks, rechecks, then gets nervous that maybe
he should check again.

Anyway, salud! Off to bed I go.

Welcome to the Venice Beach, now go the F home.

Immortal words that I remember from growing up. Not exactly sure how it applies to all of this, but it seems to match.

I’ve been hell bent over the last week to bring my website up to snuff. It was pretty basic. While I don’t know if it’ll have much effect on business, I’m not too concerned. It’s been something to do.

The point of this blog, is well, hmmmm, maybe there’s not a point. It’ll probably be some sort of rant about the music business, culture, technology, and all the things I’m interested in.

Enjoy.
